We talked to the other patrons eating, great people in Texas! One Jar Head, a Harley couple, one patron. Ken let the Jar Head know he had a nice bike…..his friendly response, who has a bike? Of course the jarhead had no idea that a “bike” and a Harley Davidson are the same thing, so Ken clarified he has a nice Harley. He was worried about our choice of bikes, he laid hands on Ken and blessed us, I was very thankful. He must have used up all his blessings on us, because his Bike😀, would not start! Ken and I pushed that flipped HD halfway back to Dallas while the Jarhead popped the clutch trying to start it, it was HOT!!! You could tell the poor guy was positively embarrassed, I tried to cheer him up by letting him know if he had a couple of marines pushing the bike instead of a couple Army guys it would have started. After wasting about 40 min pushing that bike we jumped on our two cheap Japanese bikes, made a point to rev the crap out of them and tore off!
Ken made a point to take the paved back roads. Along the way we were chased by about 4 dogs, came across a herd of COWS just taking up the whole flippen road, 4 kids on bikes waving to us. I don’t know if he took a wrong turn or what but we ended up riding dual sport on this crap dirt road…a Gold Wing and Ninja! This road was so far from nowhere I don’t think we would have ever been found if we broke down, but thanks to our thousand miles in the UP we were both able to make it back to pavement. Oh, by the way it was dark while we rode down that dirt road and Ken did a nice power slide on the Goldwing.
We are now having a lemonade at Applebee’s, and here in Texas they still smoke in the restaurant! We are back in the 70’s loving it! Our waitress seems to be related to the one we had at the Winners Circle so many years ago, those of you that were out that night know what I’m talking about.
I remember that waitress! Looks like a great trip so far!
