So after the bike not starting this morning and us enlisting the help of Ken and his son who own and operate the Holiday Inn Express in Mount Pleasant, Tx to get it started (by the way they are originally from Canton Michigan) we wandered over to Walmart to put air in our tires and the suspension of the GL. Something we stupidly forgot to do before we hit the road yesterday.
thanks to the guys at Walmart, Ray and His partner who were very friendly and more than happy to lend us their air and whatever else we needed. We also met the county commissioner who has been so for 35 years, Mike Field, who is retiring in two years, who came over to ask where we were from and making sure we had all we needed.
We picked up a small jump pack for the bikes and hit the road. We found some gorgeous small winding back roads through eastern Texas and western Arkansas and again met good people at every turn.
At one point we pulled over just to get a drink off water and a guy on his tractor pulled up and just wanted to make sure we were okay and offered us a cool drink.

I am again happy to report that there are an awful lot of really good people in America and if all you do is listen to the dreadful news you’d think we were all out to kill one another. I can attest to the fact that we have interacted with and met people on the last few days from all walks of life, different races, different sexual orientations, different religions, etc.. and none of it mattered. Be nice to people and it’s amazing what you get in return.
It’s truly sad to see how we often judge people without taking the time to get to know them. This trip is refreshing by belief in people and is honestly leaving me smiling each day.
Craig and I are taking a break and grabbing a cool drink trying to beat off the oppressive heat and humidity. The bike has started each time since this morning and both are running well. Craig took the GL this afternoon and says it’s like driving his couch it’s so comfortable able, but also like piloting a battleship compared to the lightweight Ninja.
Get out and see America. Get off the highways, put down your phones and be refreshed with how good people can be. Share the love ❤️.
this is our current location.
Welcome to Arkansas! I have to say one of the things we all noticed when we moved here was….wait for it…the people are so nice!
Glad you are having such a great time and the bike has been cooperating with you!
